QUETTA: Unidentified miscreants blew up a 24-inch diameter gas pipeline in Dera Murad Jamali here Friday night.
According to police, the bombing damaged part of the pipeline in Notaal suspending gas supply to many districts of the restive province of Balochistan including the provincial capital Quetta.
A giant ball of fire shot into the sky following the explosion as the highly inflammable methane gas took no time in setting the broken pipeline ablaze.
The fire was extinguished shortly as Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) fielded the teams of engineers within in no time, which reached at the blast site and started repair work.
The law enforcement agencies rushed to the site and cordoned off the area.
The officials expect the gas supply to be restored soon.
