Lorde Rocks Straight Hair During Grammys 2014 "Royals" Performance: Picture

What's the craziest thing Lorde could do during her debut Grammys performance? Ditch her curls! The 17-year-old
New Zealand singer rocked straight hair while performing her hit song "Royals" at the Staples Center in L.A. on Sunday, Jan. 26. Lorde got rid of her signature curls and opted for a classic straight hairstyle. The new look matched the simple, black-and-white theme of her act. Performing with only a drummer and keyboardist, the "Team" singer wore a white sleeveless blouse and black pants. She accessorized the dark look with purple-black lipstick and black nail polish that looked like her fingers were dipped in ink.For her first Grammy Awards, Lorde received nominations for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album. During her acceptance speech for Best Pop Solo Performances, Lorde thanked the other nominees in the category.
"Well, hello," the surprised winner said on stage. "This is the one thing that I did not expect the most about tonight, so thank you so much. I think mostly to Bruno [Mars], to Sara [Bareilles], to Katy [Perry], to Justin [Timberlake]. I have been so inspired by all of your vocal work at some point in my life, so thank you . . . Thank you so much!"How has life changed for the new artist? "I mean I feel like I catch public transport slightly less than I did, just because sometimes I'm on a strict time limit," Lorde told Us Weekly on Jan. 23. "But I mean I still do it quite a lot back home."
